Wow! I have never been to such an amazing costume exhibition. The best yet at the Victoria and Albert Museum. So much to see and such wonderful colours and styles. You didn’t know where to look next. It was beautifully presented and the history was so interesting. Christian Dior was an amazing person, who crammed so much into a short life.
What I found so interesting was the way the beautiful styling passed on through each different designer, so that despite the change of looks the basis of amazing cut and fabrics used, threaded through the whole exhibition, from start to finish.
Even the mock ups of designs were stunning, despite being created in natural cotton because you could see the way a piece was structured and how fabric can be manipulated. Also the miniature pieces made with all the appropriate accessories, mirroring the finished full sized pieces, were beautiful and again so well exhibited.
I have been lucky enough to visit the exhibition twice and am due to have a third visit and I know that again I will see things I didn’t see previously, as there is so much there.
An amazing experience of stunning outfits, colour and fabrics.
