After two years of designing, creating, painting, dyeing, stitching, mounting and framing finally on Tuesday 8th we got round to hanging our exhibition “Deepening the Mystery” at the Apex Gallery in Bury St Edmunds. The day was very hot and was not without its problems as an administrative mix-up meant that our exhibition could not be the area of the gallery that we had been expecting. Nevertheless with help from the gallery staff we got it all done in the end. We are rather proud of the work that we have produced for this exhibition and feel that it is perhaps our best yet. We hope that visitors to the exhibition will agree with us.
It has become our habit in previous exhibitions to choose certain themes which each member of the group interprets in her own way and this year we have produced pieces inspired by poems, music and favourite artists. It is always fascinating to see how very differently seven different artists respond to the same challenge.
The exhibition runs daily until Sunday 3rd June – although there is just a chance that it may be closed for the odd day if the Apex is staging another event so it would perhaps be wise to ring the box office on 01284 758000 just to check. Members of the Beyond Stitch team will be there for part of each day and will be happy to chat and answer any questions you may have.
All the work is for sale (indeed some has sold already) and we also have hand-made cards as well as inspiration packs to fire your imagination and perhaps get you started on creating your own textiles piece.
We hope you can find time to pay us a visit and will look forward to seeing you.
